What is ACC, and How Do I Get Physio Covered?
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is New Zealand’s no-fault injury cover system. It provides financial support for treatment and rehabilitation physiotherapy after an injury has occurred from an accident, helping Kiwis get back to their normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.
What Does ACC Cover?
ACC provides financial support and partial coverage of our Wellington and Auckland physiotherapy sessions, as well as our Auckland podiatry services, following an injury. This injury must have occurred from an accident.
These injuries can include:
Sports Injuries (e.g., sprains, strains, ligament damage, fractures)
Workplace Injuries (e.g., repetitive strain injuries, falls, muscle tears)
Accidents at Home & Outside the Home (e.g., slips, trips, or falls)
Road Traffic Accidents (e.g., whiplash, fractures, soft tissue injuries)
If your injury is caused by an accident, you can access subsidised ACC physiotherapy near you, reducing the cost for you. This coverage is processed all by us, so all you need to do is book in with one of our physiotherapists in Auckland or Wellington.
What Else Can I Get Covered with ACC?
Podiatry Services
ACC also provides coverage for podiatry treatments related to accident-related foot and lower limb injuries. ACC podiatry near you can help with conditions such as:
Sprained ankles
Fractures
Plantar fasciitis due to trauma
Achilles tendon injuries
Our podiatrists work closely with our physiotherapists to ensure a holistic and effective treatment plan.
Acupuncture Services
Acupuncture is another effective treatment that may be covered under ACC for pain management and injury recovery. We have qualified acupuncturists who can treat your ACC injury. They can help with the following:
Reduce muscle tension
Improve circulation
Enhance natural healing
This service is especially beneficial for chronic pain, sports injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation. Our physiotherapists are also qualified to administer dry needling within your ACC physiotherapy appointment.
